Stanhope Capital Group has hired former Aviva Investors investment director James Lawlor as partner and head of real estate for the group.
Lawlor was investment director for UK real estate transactions at Aviva, where he was responsible for reshaping the firm’s real estate portfolio and delivering specialist transactional expertise to its property funds. During his time at Aviva, Lawlor played a key role on £500m worth of acquisitions and £1.5bn of sales.
Before Lawlor joined Aviva in 2017, he was associate director at Cushman & Wakefield, working in the agent’s national business space investment team.
Stanhope has also recruited Eric Vu Anh as investment manager and senior associate. Vu Anh has joined the wealth management group from Cortland, where he was responsible for investment analysis, transactions, and treasury management for the firm’s European platform. He has also held roles at BCCAP Capital, Urban Exposure and BNP Paribas. He will work alongside Lawlor, managing the group’s real estate access vehicles and direct funds.
Daniel Pinto, founder and chief executive of Stanhope Capital Group, said: “The development of our private investment activities – including real estate – is a key element in our strategy to serve entrepreneurs across their needs.”
Lawlor said: “Stanhope has developed a leading offering in real estate, having cultivated access to interesting investment opportunities across its international network. I look forward to applying my experience and working with the team.”
