Southampton’s former Debenhams set for resi redevelopment

Plans to redevelop the former Debenhams store in Southampton into 607 homes are set for approval next week.

Southampton Estates plans to provide 598 build-to-rent flats and nine townhouses across three buildings ranging from six to 17 storeys on the site of Queens Buildings on Queensway.

The development will also include 4,520 sq ft of ground-floor commercial space, a 22,000 sq ft public plaza and new pedestrian routes through the site, as well as private outdoor space for residents.

The scheme will have 108 car parking spaces, including 16 electric vehicle charging spaces, and 480 cycle parking spaces.

The redevelopment of the store has been designed by Hodder + Partners, with DPP acting as planning consultant for the scheme.
