Satellite service heads to Harwell for more space

Astroscale has signed for a 20,000 sq ft facility at the Zeus building on ARC’s Harwell Science and Innovation Campus in Oxfordshire.

The move by the in-orbit servicing firm marks a ninefold increase in size compared with the firm’s previous premises.

The new hub is expected to provide Astroscale with satellite manufacturing facility, a satellite operations centre and offices for 120 staff.

The company expects this new UK facility to allow it to build satellite debris removal servicer satellites as well as develop its commercial offering in the coming years.

Nobu Okada, founder and chief executive of Astroscale, said: “This facility will support our ambitious growth plans for the UK business, allowing us to work with our partners to drive forward the development of the in-orbit servicing commercial market in the UK. If we act now, we will ensure a sustainable space economy for future generations.”
