Empiric Student Property has partnered with Spike Global to enable freshers to connect with each other and their neighbours, and form interest and support groups.
Under the agreement, Empiric will roll out student engagement portal Spike Student across its 9,000-bed portfolio in 29 UK university towns and cities, including Cardiff, Edinburgh, Leeds, Oxford and Exeter.
Acting as a one-stop shop, the app enables students to organise their own events to get to know each other and overcome the struggles of integration. The app is also home to wider community events listings, local guides and promotions.
Spike Student also provides communication with the on-site premises team, as well as option to book the on-site amenities, organise a parcel collection, report a fault or check on rental payments.
Jeremy Heath-Smith, chief executive of Spike Global, said: “We share an understanding of the importance of accommodation that is not only comfortable but also supports the social and mental health needs of students.”
Gemma Le Marquer, sales and marketing director at Empiric, added: “It is particularly important to us that our residents can fully experience all that university life has to offer, and really feel the benefits of a strong student community.”
