The English Cities Fund has revealed plans for a £2.5bn regeneration project, to be known as Crescent Innovation North, in Salford, Greater Manchester.
The scheme would create of 1.6m sq ft of innovation, research, education and commercial space, 28,000 sq ft of retail space, and up to 950 new homes.
The development will be built in phases, starting with the research hub, about 600 new homes and public realm, alongside commercial and retail space. The rest of the scheme will be delivered under the second phase.
The English Cities Fund is a joint venture between Muse, Legal & General and Homes England and is working on the Crescent Innovation North proposal in partnership with the University of Salford and Salford City Council.
Development director Mark O’Mullane said: “As a partnership, we are committed to building brighter futures together and we are looking forward to progressing plans to do just that in Salford.”
The partners have now launched a public consultation for the scheme ahead of a planning application, expected early next year.
