It isn’t “woke” to care about climate change, government minister Zac Goldsmith has said.
As the COP27 summit continues, the foreign office minister and former climate minister said: “It’s not trendy, it’s not woke, it’s not nice to have and it’s not a waste of UK taxpayers’ money. This is fundamental.”
In a thinly veiled attack on some members of his own party, he added: “[To say that] caring about the world is somehow woke – I find that stupid.”
