MORNING NEWS: Home delays results as Viceroy attacks

Home REIT has been forced to delay its interim results after coming under fire from activist investor Viceroy Research. The REIT’s interims were due to be published this morning but have been pulled while it responds to Viceroy’s “inaccurate and misleading” claims that its rent base is not secure.

Rebel Conservative MPs, including two former prime ministers, say they will defeat the government over an amendment to the Levelling Up and Regeneration Bill. The amendment, tabled by former levelling up secretary Simon Clarke, now has the backing of at least 30 Tory MPs, including Boris Johnson and Liz Truss, and the Labour Party.

Meanwhile, three former housing ministers have warned the government it will lose the next election if it buckles to rebels wanting to scrap housing targets.

Sajid Javid made his plea in a column for the Sunday Times (£). And The Times (£) meets the driving force behind the rebellion, “Queen Nimby” Rosie Pearson.

And levelling up minister Dehenna Davison has confirmed she will not stand as an MP in the next General Election.

Primark has said it will open four new stores, in Bury St Edmunds, Salisbury, Teesside Park and Craigavon.

And roadside property developer Barkby has said it will spend £200m on new developments as it looks to become a REIT.
