HSBC to close a quarter of its branches

HSBC has said it will shut a further 114 branches by April, as more customers migrate online.

The bank said some of the branches marked for closure – which account for more than a quarter of its network – served fewer than 250 customers a week.

At the start of the year HSBC had 600 branches. The closures will bring that figure to 327 after it shut 69 branches last year.
