Twitter refuses to pay rents as it cuts costs

Twitter is refusing to pay its rent in an attempt to cut costs.

The social media platform has not paid rent for some of its offices, including its San Francisco HQ, for several weeks as it attempts to renegotiate leases.

The New York Times reports that the missed payments are a deliberate attempt to cut costs.

Twitter did not immediately respond to a request for comment. But then again, it barely has a communications department since Elon Musk laid off half of Twitter’s staff shortly after buying the platform in November and becoming CEO.

Some landlords have offered to let the company terminate its lease in exchange for a reduced payment, but the social media company has refused, according to reports.
