Data centre operator Global Switch looks set to be given clearance for a new scheme in east London.
Planning officials at Tower Hamlets Council have recommended councillors approve plans for a seven-storey, 290,625 sq ft centre on a car park at Global Switch’s existing campus at East India Dock House in Poplar, E14, once the print works for the Financial Times.
The new building, which will be known as London South, would be linked by bridge to Global Switch’s existing London East building.
Planning documents from architect TTSP said: “The importance of data centres in this location cannot be understated as the site sits within a state-of-the-art data centre environment close to the City and Docklands, with its wealth of carriers and cloud providers.”
