Insurer Direct Line Group will occupy the entire fourth floor of 1 St Paul’s Square building in Liverpool after winning a contract with Motability Operations.
Direct Line has taken 17,000 sq ft of office space over a 10-year term to establish a Liverpool team that will be able to service more than 650,000 Motability Operations customers. The Motability scheme assists disabled people to lease a new car, scooter or powered wheelchair, using their disability benefit.
1 St Paul’s Square is an eight-storey building managed by Valeo Capital, which appointed CBRE as its sole agent on the property and kickstarted a repositioning of the building in November last year. This included mixed-use at ground floor level, 50,000 sq ft of grade-A office space, a full refurbishment of the central atrium to provide a new reception, and seating area and booths for social or informal meetings.
The building already serves as a home to law firms, including Hill Dickinson, Weightmans and DWF, as well as financial occupiers such as Santander and Investec.
Neil Kirkham, senior director of CBRE Liverpool which acted for Valeo, said: “This transaction very much substantiates our client’s decision to invest in the repositioning of 1 St Paul’s Square.”
