X+why to operate flex office space in Santander’s HQ

Flexible workspace provider x+why has signed to operate 60,000 sq ft at Santander’s new HQ in Milton Keynes.

The B Corp-certified firm will occupy the entire second floor of the 500,000 sq ft Unity Place, which opens in the summer.

It plans to deliver private offices, desks and pods for start-ups, entrepreneurs and hybrid workers at the BREEAM Excellent building.

The campus, designed by LOM, aims to be a centre for digital banking innovation that offers spaces for collaboration and staff wellbeing. The ground floor will also be open to the public, with retail outlets and community facilities.

X+why co-founder Rupert Dean said: “All our spaces are designed and operated in as sustainable a way as possible – from the supply chain for our fit-outs, to the way waste is collected and recycled. The spaces are aimed at any organisation who is committed to a more impactful and positive way of working, whether they be a business, social enterprise or charity.”

Santander’s head of property Nick Roberts said the operator’s “strong brand credentials” will ensure the building attracts “impressive and innovative businesses”.
