McLaren’s Manchester PBSA gets green light

McLaren Property and the Sisters of the Cross and Passion have received planning approval for a 319-bed purpose-built student accommodation scheme, St Gabriel’s Lodge, in Oxford Place, Manchester.

The approved proposal includes the demolition of an existing building on the site, St David’s Hall, and the partial demolition of St Gabriel’s Lodge.

McLaren plans to develop two new four- and five-storey residential blocks and renovate Woodthorpe Hall.

The student rooms will be a mix of studio and cluster bedrooms, and the development will also provide 160 cycle parking spaces and shared amenity space.

The existing buildings on the site are not listed but are “considered to have some contribution” to the Victoria Park Conservation Area.

The two-acre site is located on Oxford Place, near to the University of Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan University campuses.
