Proposals revealed for Manchester’s Red Bank neighbourhood

Far East Consortium has launched the latest round of public consultation for the Red Bank neighbourhood in Manchester city centre, ahead of the submission of a detailed planning application in the spring.

The proposals include 1,550 new homes of one, two and three-bedrooms on land adjacent to the developer’s Victoria Riverside scheme on Dantzic Street. The project will span seven buildings varying in height between six and 34 storeys.

The consortium intends to make improvements to Dantzic Street and turn it into a European-style, tree-lined boulevard with 21,500 sq ft of ground-floor retail, commercial and leisure space to support the development of local independent businesses.

Red Bank neighbourhood forms a part of the wider £4bn Victoria North housing scheme, which is set to deliver up to 15,000 new homes over the next 15 to 20 years.

Timea Nacsa, development manager at FEC, said: “Building on the wild urbanism concept set by the Red Bank masterplan, the scheme has been designed from the ground up with a huge focus on the public realm to create a varying landscape offer and continuous activation as you transition through the neighbourhood.”
