Arcadis names new northern cities executive

Netherlands-based consultancy Arcadis has appointed Richard Jones as its representative across the North of England.

In the newly created role of northern cities executive, Jones will work closely with local authority leaders and the business community to help them navigate the urban environment landscape. This includes the challenges of housing delivery, investment in rail infrastructure, the devolution agenda and quality of life in northern towns and cities. He will also be Arcadis’s representative at the Northern Powerhouse Partnership.

Jones has previously worked on the delivery of projects across the North and internationally, including Liverpool ONE and Stockport Interchange. He sits on the Rochdale Stations Alliance board, guiding the delivery of more than 7,000 new homes along the Calder Valley rail corridor.

Peter Hogg, UK cities director at Arcadis, said: “Arcadis have a strong and important presence across the North, and Richard will be a figurehead for our wide and varied client base. His expertise in transport and infrastructure, in particular, will be invaluable in the drive to better connect northern cities and create an economic whole greater than the sum of its parts.”
