Starbucks plans to open 100 new outlets in the UK this year and renovate 30 more.
The US coffee chain said it plans to invest £30m in the UK, with the new coffee shops being a mix of company-run and licensed, but “primarily” the latter. Around 70% of its outlets are franchises.
Starbucks is also pivoting towards drive-through outlets. It currently has 285 in the UK, out of an existing estate of 1,066 stores.
The company is seeking to quell rumours that it plans to sell its UK business. Last July it was reported that Starbucks had asked Houlihan Lokey to gauge interest in a sale.
