Conygar’s plans to create a bioscience facility at its Nottingham city centre regeneration scheme have been approved by the council.
The plans, which were submitted in December, detail more than 245,000 sq ft of laboratory, office and meeting space and form part of the latest phase of the Island Quarter.
The first phase of the wider project, spanning 36 acres, has seen the construction of the restaurant and event space, 1 The Island Quarter, completed in September 2022.
Meanwhile, building works have begun on a 693-bed student development, while planning has been granted for 247 BTR flats, a 223-bedroom hotel and 400 co-working desks.
The scheme, designed by CPMG Architects, was submitted by Axis PED on behalf of Conygar, with support from WES, Quartz Project Services, Studio Egret West, Tier Consult and Chord Consult.
Christopher Ware, property director at Conygar, said: “Gaining planning approval for the bioscience facility is a significant step forward for the continued regeneration of The Island Quarter. We are continuing to build momentum on site, and this phase will feed into the latest updates to the masterplan.”
