LSE looks for development partners for £400m student halls scheme

The London School of Economics is looking for joint venture partners to deliver what will become its ‘premier’ halls of residence, close to Tate Modern.

A public tender document says the £400m-plus Bankside project in SE1 will need to be delivered by mid-2030.

The scheme will involve the redevelopment of the existing Bankside House on Sumner Street, SE1, to create a higher quality and larger facility to meet growing demand.

Bankside House was originally built as offices for the owners of Battersea Power Station, becoming a student residence for LSE in 1997.

It contains 595 bed spaces.

The site is less than a mile from LSE’s campus.
