Tesco property arm joins Real Estate Balance

Tesco’s property arm has joined Real Estate Balance, becoming the first retailer to become a member.

The membership organisation, which campaigns to improve equality, diversity and inclusion in the property industry, said the move sends a “powerful signal to the industry about the importance of EDI and significantly amplifies the voices calling for change”.

Tesco Property joins a network of more than 100 organisations working to progress EDI within property, including British Land, CBRE and the Crown Estate.

Through a range of programmes, campaigns and events, including the industry’s largest and most comprehensive EDI survey, these organisations contribute towards creating equal opportunities and inclusive environments for people of all backgrounds.

Tesco Property director Steve Rigby said that the business is “committed to ensuring our actions on D&I create better balance across our teams”.

Real Estate Balance managing director Sue Brown said: “Having one of the UK’s most prominent property operators within our membership sets an excellent example to others and will help us make faster progress and achieve much greater reach.

“I’d like to thank Steve and the Tesco Property team for their commitment to engage, take action and truly turn up the dial on diversity.”
