Glasgow shopping centre set for mixed-use regeneration

Asset manager Sovereign Centros has secured approval for its outline masterplan of the St Enoch Centre in Glasgow. The mixed-use masterplan includes 917 homes, retail, leisure and entertainment space, offices and a four-star hotel. The Leslie Jones-designed plans will regenerate the riverfront, Merchant City and Glasgow Green over a number of phases spanning the next 15-20 years. Guy Beaumont, director at Sovereign Centros, said: “This marks a milestone moment for St Enoch Centre and underlines the council’s commitment to meeting the needs and demands of people who live and work in the city centre. “It’s an exciting time for Glasgow city centre and with a clear strategy and appetite for improvement, there is an enormous opportunity to create something truly special.
