Knight Frank hires former HSBC MD to lead new strategic capital offer

Knight Frank has hired Josephine Jones as head of strategic capital, leading a newly created team within its capital advisory arm.

Jones (pictured above) has more than 15 years of transactional experience in the financial sector, having held several roles at HSBC from 2007 to 2022, including head of credit and lending, and managing director for the real estate finance team in the Asia-Pacific markets.

During her time at HSBC, Jones was responsible for generating new business, building relationships and increasing the bank’s institutional finance portfolio. Her deal experience extends beyond real estate and includes leveraged finance, corporate finance and infrastructure finance.

Jones will join KFCA as a partner in September. She is the latest senior hire to join the subsidiary and will work alongside the debt advisory team, headed by Lisa Attenborough, and the equity advisory team, led by Emma Winning.

Knight Frank said Jones has a strong investor network that will be “invaluable” in her new role, consisting of private equity sponsors, asset managers, sovereign wealth funds and pension funds across Europe, Asia, Australia and Canada.

She will focus on providing strategic advice to institutional clients on large or complex transactions, including those with operational income or concentrated tenant profiles, or which require multiple or hybrid financing sources. Her remit will cover green and ESG-linked deals, multi-jurisdictional portfolios, and corporate and infrastructure cross-over transactions.

Attenborough said Jones’s experience of working with complicated financial structures will bring a “unique added dimension” to KFCA, while her “detailed understanding of the underlying income streams and tenant profiles of institutional assets will strengthen our consultancy, agency and capital raising offering”.

James Mannix, head of residential development and investment at Knight Frank, said Jones’s track record has “earned her a reputation as one of the financial industry’s shining stars”.

He added: “Knight Frank is on a rapid growth trajectory over the next few years. Our ambition is to expand key teams around the world by hiring exceptionally talented individuals who are trailblazers within their field.

“By bringing people like Josephine on board, it will allow us to continue delivering market-leading advice to global clients.”
