XPO Logistics has agreed to occupy a 210,000 sq ft logistics facility in Wakefield, Yorkshire.
The 10-year leasing deal, with a break in year five, was signed for Melburg Capital’s Voltaic asset, located on the Wakefield 41 industrial estate.
The development, which Melburg acquired last year, is approaching completion of a major refurbishment and is expected to be ready for occupation in August.
The deal marks the largest letting in Yorkshire so far this year.
US-based XPO, which provides transportation solutions, plans to use the new hub to service its ongoing contracts with construction firm Saint-Gobain.
Melburg head of asset and development management Andrew Burns said: “The industrial sector is not immune to wider fiscal turbulence, and it is therefore imperative to understand the operational and sustainability requirements of an increasingly discerning occupier base.
“This understanding has enabled us to deliver an optimal product at a competitive rental level.”
Melburg was advised by Cushman & Wakefield, Avison Young and Burgess Okoh Saunders. XPO were advised by Louch Shacklock & Partners.
