Center Parcs continues search for South East site

Center Parcs has said it will continue searching for a site in the south east of England after being forced to scrap its Gatwick plans.

The company, which has been put up for sale by Brookfield Property Partners with a £4bn price tag, said the search for a new site was “progressing well”.

“We are actively seeking a sixth village site here in the UK, in addition to adding 200 lodges to our village in Ireland,” chief executive Colin McKinlay said in a trading update, which also revealed an 18% rise in revenues to £593.8m.

The company had secured an option to acquire a woodland site in July 2021 and planned to spend between £350m and £400m creating a 900-lodge venue, but the project was scotched because of environmental concerns.
