Berkeley Group has set in motion a 320-home redevelopment project at the Stratford Gasworks site in east London.
The company’s St William Homes subsidiary wants to build several blocks of up to 15 storeys at the site on Rick Roberts Way, E15, south of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
The 2.3-acre site is part of a bigger 10-acre plot earmarked by the London Legacy Development Corporation for at least 750 homes. An environmental impact assessment lodged with the LLDC by planning consultancy Temple says the plot is “a complex brownfield site”, currently occupied by two large, below-ground gas holders. The scheme will include new public ream and gardens and is aiming for a biodiversity net gain of at least 10%.
Berkeley describes St William Homes as “[unlocking] some of the most technically complex regeneration sites at the heart of communities across London and the south of England”. Its portfolio includes the 955-home Prince of Wales Drive project in Battersea, SW11.
