Enfield gets more levelling up cash for Meridian Water

Enfield Council has secured an extra £25m funding for the next phase of Meridian Water in north London.

The government infrastructure funding is in addition to the £170m previously awarded by the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, and is intended to cover the impact of rising inflation on costs.

The phased Meridian Water scheme will deliver 10,000 homes over 25 years.

Last year, Vistry secured approval for phase 1b, which will provide 676 homes. A further 300 homes were provided by phase 1a.

The next phase, Meridian Two, will be on the Leeside Road gasholder site, which the council bought from National Grid. It has outline planning permission for 2,300 homes.

The infrastructure funding will be used to naturalise Pymmes Brook, add two new parks and deliver roads, bridges, footpaths and cycle links.
