LGIM submits plans for 320 homes on Scottish and Newcastle brewery site

Legal & General Investment Management has submitted plans to develop 320 homes on Plot 9B of Newcastle Helix, formerly known as Science Central.

Plans submitted to Newcastle City Council include the development of two towers of 28 and 18 storeys, providing a mix of studio, one- and two-bedroom build-to-rent homes.

The proposal forms part of the redevelopment of the former Scottish and Newcastle brewery site in the city centre to provide Newcastle Helix, a large-scale urban regeneration project becoming a major UK hub for scientific research, technology, business, employment and residential use.

The site is currently undeveloped and extends to 26,000 sq ft.

LGIM’s proposal includes amenities such as residents’ lounge, a gym, three private dining areas, a café and 216 cycle parking spaces.
