Property scandal rocks Monaco

Prince Albert of Monaco has fired his long-serving asset manager following allegations of corrupt property deals.

Claude Palmero, who has overseen the principality’s property deals since 2005, has been ordered to leave his post after being targeted by a mysterious website, Les Dossiers du Rocher, which has led to a flurry of civil lawsuits and a criminal investigation.

The prince also sacked Laurent Anselmi, his chief of staff, and publicly distanced himself from Thierry Lacoste, his lawyer and childhood friend, and Didier Linotte, president of Monaco’s supreme court.

All four men deny wrongdoing and claim to be the victims of a plot orchestrated by an ill-intentioned property magnate. They say Les Dossiers du Rocher contains fake documents and false allegations. The prince had originally backed the four men.
