Queen Victoria’s Balmoral picnic cottage is to be saved from disrepair.
National Trust for Scotland has submitted a planning application to Aberdeenshire council to turn Picnic Lodge – a larch-shingled, granite cottage on the Buildings at Risk register – into a day bothy for visitors to the 70,000-acre Mar Lodge Estate at the Linn of Quoich, Braemar.
