Wild Bioscience doubles its space at Didcot’s Milton Park

Wild Bioscience has expanded at MEPC’s Milton Park in Didcot, Oxfordshire, to support its growth plans.

The firm, which develops crop varieties, has signed a lease on a further 5,000 sq ft of laboratory and research and development space, bringing its total footprint to 9,000 sq ft.

Wild Bioscience joined Milton Park in 2021 as a spin-out from the University of Oxford and now employs more than 20 staff.

Ross Hendron, co-founder and chief executive of Wild Bioscience, said: “We raised £12m in seed capital in 2021 and we are planning a series A funding round next year, which will be a trigger for yet more expansion. As an ambitious start-up, we need to capitalise on these growth opportunities, but because of the very nature of developing and growing large crop plants, we need a lot of space in order to do this.

“It was challenging to find suitable lab space in Oxford, but we were attracted to Milton Park due to its single ownership, creating a giant incubator with the flexibility for companies to grow.”

Milton Park, spanning across 214 acres, provides 3m sq ft of office, laboratory, warehouse and amenity space for more than 250 companies and 9,000 people.
