The Cambridge life sciences market is primed for expansion with proposals lodged for a £100m innovation hub on a 50-acre site in Hauxton.
The development, called Cambridge Discovery Campus, will be located on the site of the former Bayer CropScience Facility, which closed in 2005.
The campus will be developed by Foundation Capital Ventures in conjunction with landowner Bridgemere Land.
The development will span more than 250,000 sq ft across six buildings. Features also include a 6,437 sq ft amenity building.
Potential occupiers include tech and innovation companies, as well as traditional life sciences tenants.
The campus will have scope to provide grow-on space for small start-ups and medium-sized companies.
Cambridge Discovery Campus will be located opposite a 40,000 sq ft incubator building on Hauxton Meadows land, which is being brought forward by co-working lab space developer o2h Group.
The campus would also benefit from the proposed Cambridge South West Travel Hub next to it, which will provide links to Cambridge and Cambridge South train stations, as well as Cambridge Biomedical Campus.
The developers are expecting to secure the council’s decision on the project by the end of this year. If approved, the project is expected to be delivered over the next three to five years.
FCV was formed in October last year in a move to deliver innovation space to support the growth of the UK knowledge economy.
Bidwells was appointed as planning consultant on the project.
