Aldi has confirmed plans to open one new store a week throughout the UK between now and Christmas.
The discount supermarket, now the UK’s fourth largest grocer, has a target to expand to 1,200 stores in Britain by 2025. This will require it to open 60 new supermarkets a year on average.
At present has about 1,000 branches.
The mixed-use scheme is expected to support 2,500 jobs once complete
The site holds hybrid planning consent for 1,493 homes, 475 hotel beds and 31,000 sq ft of commercial space
