Moorgate office damaged as fire breaks out

About 1,200 people were evacuated from offices and houses in the City of London yesterday after a fire broke out.

Large amounts of smoke were produced by the blaze in a disused office block on Moorfields in Moorgate, EC2, at about 11.20am. Onlookers reported smelling burning plastic.

The plant room on the 10th floor of the 11 floor building, was destroyed.
