Green light for Scotland’s largest resi scheme

Developer Springfield Properties has been given the go-ahead to develop more than 3,000 homes on a 593-acre site in Durieshill, near Stirling, Scotland.

The scheme is the largest detailed planning application for housing ever to be approved in Scotland.

The scheme, which is expected to span 30 years, will comprise 25% affordable housing, schools,  shops, a business park, civic areas, parks, community woodland and active travel routes.

The move follows approval by Stirling Council last Thursday to support the capital investment needed for delivering the education and transport infrastructure, totalling almost £57m spread over 24 years.

Stirling Council leader Chris Kane said: “We have worked diligently as a council, at a time of great financial challenge for local government, to ensure the affordability of our investment in this development without it adversely impacting other capital considerations in the coming years.

“No city should ever stand still and Stirling needs more housing. Durieshill presents an opportunity for Stirling to continue to flourish and grow.”
