Ashtrom Properties plans extension and refurb of Colmore Gate

Ashtrom Properties has filed plans with Birmingham City Council to partially demolish, refurbish and extend the Colmore Gate building in Birmingham.

The developer, working with Lichfields and Buckley Gray Yeoman architects, has proposed a 26-storey office tower and a 10-storey shoulder building.

The current site comprises a 17-storey tower and eight-storey wing designed by the Seymour Harris Partnership.

The existing building is mainly office accommodation with retail and other uses forming part of the ground-floor frontage to Colmore Row and Bull Street.

Tom Edgerley, director of development at Ashtrom Properties, said: This is a major milestone in our plans to regenerate this important building and create a new employment hub for the region.

“This project has the potential to create 3,600 new jobs and generate more than £200m in economic output per year.”
