The children of despots and autocratic rulers own more than £250m of UK property.
The names have been revealed under new transparency rules, which have forced foreign companies that own property in the UK to declare the identities of their owners.
Analysis of thousands of entries in the Register of Overseas Entities database has found that almost £200m of UK property is owned by members of Azerbaijan’s ruling Aliyev family and families of their political appointees.
A further £40m is owned by those linked to the former Kazakh president Nursultan Nazarbayev, and the fugitive daughter of former Angolan president José Eduardo dos Santos owns property valued at £10m.
