BL promotes two to new head of leasing roles

British Land has promoted two to new head of leasing roles within the business.

Alex Colvin has been promoted to head of development leasing and Amy Hockley to head of innovation leasing.

Colvin joined the company in 2014 as an office leasing director. Before that he was an associate director at JLL, where he worked in the City office agency team

In his new role, he will focus on leasing at Broadgate, Paddington, Norton Folgate, Ealing and other stand-alone London assets.

Hockley will lead on leasing at Canada Water, Regent’s Place and innovation assets outside of London. She joined the company in 2015 from CBRE.

The promotions come after Mike Wiseman was named head of workspace leasing and innovation and life science. At the time, Wiseman said the move would allow Colvin and Hockley to take on “bigger roles”.

In British Land’s most recent trading update, published in July ahead of its annual general meeting, the company said it had sealed 164,000 sq ft of leasing at 11.4% ahead of ERV, and had a further 102,000 sq ft under offer at 5.7% ahead of ERV.

“We have circa 1m sq ft in negotiations and have seen a noticeable uptick in viewings in the last few months as demand continues to gravitate to best in class space,” the company said.
