Aviva has signed up as investment partner for a £1.2bn cancer research and treatment hub in south London.
The insurance and investment company will team up with social mixed-use developer Socius to advance the landmark development of the London Cancer Hub in Sutton.
Aviva and Socius will partner with the London Borough of Sutton, which owns the 12-acre site, to work alongside the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust and the Institute of Cancer Research on the multi-phase development.
The 1.1m sq ft campus will support up to 13,000 high-skilled jobs in cancer research and development, diagnostics and treatment, bolstering the UK’s ambition to become a leader in the life sciences sector.
In May last year EG reported that the partnership had appointed Cushman & Wakefield to find an investment partner.
