Plans powered up for new Teesside data centre

Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council has given the go ahead for a new 1.6m sq ft data centre at Wilton International in Teesside.

The 32-acre site, to be delivered by Wilton Data Centre, is situated within the Teesside freeport zone, has the benefit of access to national grid connectivity, Wilton International’s “private wire” power network, estate resilience and on-campus generation facilities.

With a number of nearby major developments in water, hydrogen and carbon capture, Wilton Data Centre is well placed to take advantage of the latest advances in energy security, resilience and sustainability.

Construction of the data centre campus will take several years, and will initially create up to 250 construction jobs, with a completed data centre facility allowing for the creation of additional highly skilled jobs within the energy infrastructure and communications industries, providing long-term employment and growth opportunities.

A search for occupiers has already begun.
