Law firm King & Spalding has signed up for five floors at Mitsubishi Estate London and Stanhope’s 8 Bishopsgate in the City of London.
The firm has taken a 10-year lease for 41,000 sq ft across floors 27-31 of the 50-storey tower and will move from its current home at 125 Old Broad Street.
Tom Sprange, London office managing partner at King & Spalding, said: “I can’t emphasise enough how important the new office is to us, on a strategic, symbolic, practical and professional level. The firm launched in London in 2003 with a handful of people in rented office space, so announcing a new state-of-the-art office is a perfect way to not only mark the 20th anniversary of King & Spalding’s London launch but also to secure the foundations for further growth over the next two decades and beyond.”
The deal means 200,000 sq ft of space has now been let at 8 Bishopsgate, with other tenants including law firm HFW.
The building includes 75,000 sq ft of amenity space, including a 200-seat auditorium, meeting rooms and the recently opened Twenty Six Kitchen, Bar & Terrace.
Shinichi Kagitomi, managing director of Mitsubishi Estate London, said: “The legal sector is well known for its continued appetite for premium office space, and we are pleased to have been selected as King & Spalding’s new UK headquarters. Having now achieved practical completion, the letting process is gathering pace.”
King & Spalding was advised by Cushman & Wakefield, while Knight Frank and BH2 acted for Mitsubishi and Stanhope.
