The cheapest two-year mortgage rates have fallen below 5%.
Nationwide Building Society has introduced a 4.99% two-year fix for homebuyers as it cut dozens of mortgage rates by up to 0.38 percentage points.
The average two-year fix has fallen from a peak of 6.94% in June to 6.24%.
