Microsoft’s former smart cities adviser, Linda Chandler, has been appointed as chief digital officer for Olympia – Yoo Capital and Deutsche Finance International’s 14-acre redevelopment project in Hammersmith, W14.
Chandler will be responsible for delivering a digital placemaking strategy that will connect the entire ecosystem within the site. She will oversee the implementation of a next-generation data platform that will drive the site experience from the first visit when the £1bn redevelopment opens in 2025.
Chandler has 30 years’ experience in the technology and built environment industries. Her technical background began in analytics before she joined the London Development Agency as chief information officer and went on to lead the smart cities agenda at Microsoft in the UK and APAC for 12 years.
She said: “Olympia is on a journey to become one of London’s most globally recognised landmarks… Implementing forward-thinking digital solutions that create smarter environments and experiences will help achieve Olympia’s goal of becoming an exemplary, connected place. The future of real estate in the UK will depend upon smart innovations, and I’m excited for Olympia to set a new benchmark.”
