Majestic Wine toasts property team shake-up

Wine retailer Majestic has made two appointments in its property team that it says will drive new store openings and fresh format developments.

Stuart Williams will rejoin the company in January after eight years, moving back from Travelodge, where he was head of estates. He will take on a newly created role at Majestic as director of estates and acquisitions, overseeing new sites and managing existing leases. He had previously spent more than two decades at Majestic, half of that as property director.

Andy Latham, Majestic’s director of property, will become director of format development and new store operations, another new role. Latham will be responsible for planning, fitting out and setting up new stores, as well as managing reinvestment in refurbishing the existing estate.

The company said opening new stores and refurbishing the existing estate have been part of its growth plan since its acquisition by Fortress Investment Group in 2019.

Majestic chief executive John Colley said: “We have ambitious plans over the next few years to open up to one new store per month and drive the growth of our retail and commercial businesses. To achieve this, we need to make sure we have the right structure and tools in place, and creating these two new roles in our property team is an important part of that investment.”
