Up to 2,000 asylum seekers can be housed at an RAF base that was once home to the Dambusters, a High Court judge has ruled.
West Lindsey District Council in Lincolnshire had argued that the government’s plans to use the disused RAF Scampton airfield were unlawful. Braintree District Council in Essex had made a similar complaint in relation to plans for land that once formed part of RAF Wethersfield.
Following a legal battle lasting several months, a High Court judge has ruled against both councils.
