Helical strengthens development team with two hires

Helical has bolstered its development team with two appointments to support its substantial London office development pipeline.

Elliott Saunders has been appointed as senior development executive and Matt Redgrove as development executive.

The pair bring over 24 years’ combined experience and will play key roles in facilitating major projects including 100 New Bridge Street, EC4, Helical’s joint venture with Transport for London, plus new and existing refurbishments across the portfolio.

Saunders was previously a director at Third London Wall, where he spent two years leading office projects for Aviva Investors, Tishman Speyer and Stanhope. Prior to this he spent four years as a director at Avison Young, where he worked on the development of Helical’s Kaleidoscope building over Farringdon station.

Redgrove spent seven years at Turner & Townsend, where he lead projects including New Zealand House in St James’s for clients such as the Crown Estate, Ballymore and Sellar.

Before this he spent four years at AECOM, where he managed environmental assessments for commercial developments including 22 Bishopsgate.

Gerald Kaye, chief executive of Helical, said: “Demand for the best-in-class office space continues to outstrip supply and we are ideally placed to capitalise on this imbalance as we work through our substantial development pipeline alongside our joint venture partners. Elliott and Matt have been heavily involved in the delivery of a range of office schemes across London and will be invaluable additions to our established team.”

In February 2023, Helical was selected by Transport for London as its joint venture partner for a project to deliver office space above or close to London Underground stations. The project has three development sites with planning permission at Bank, Paddington and Southwark, totalling around 600,000 sq ft. Construction at Bank is set to start in late 2024.

Helical got the green light to redevelop the existing 167,000 sq ft office building at 100 New Bridge Street, EC4. The consent is currently being amended to maximise construction efficiencies before work begins.
