Taylor Wimpey gets green light to build 500 homes in Merseyside

St Helens Borough Council has approved Taylor Wimpey’s plans for more than 500 new homes in Bold and Lea Green in Merseyside.

The plans were approved after amendments were made to ensure the development is high quality and remains in keeping with the natural environment. A £2m contribution to support local infrastructure and services was also agreed.

The 514-home scheme is located on a 49-acre site at Gartons Lane and includes a mixture of one to four-bedroom detached, semi-detached and terrace houses, of which 155 are affordable.

Richard McCauley, cabinet member for regeneration and planning at St Helens Borough Council, said: “This development will make a significant contribution to addressing the borough’s housing needs, which is an average of at least 486 additional dwellings per annum to 2037.

“We are in the middle of a housing crisis, with over 7,000 families on the council’s housing list in St Helens alone. Everyone deserves the right to high-quality housing and developments like this will provide a range of new opportunities.”

Lichfields advised Taylor Wimpey on planning.
