Stantec finds new home in Manchester

Design and engineering firm Stantec has become the latest occupier at AEW’s 100 Barbirolli Square in Manchester city centre.

Stantec has taken just under 10,000 sq ft on the seventh floor of the building. The deal was signed on a 10-year lease with an option to break after five years.

The refurbished workplace features co-working environments including zones for social activity, team-building exercises and general wellbeing.

The move comes as Stantec continues to grow its headcount and expand its offering, with the new space set to become a hub to service clients in the North West and elsewhere.

Relocation to Barbirolli Square is expected in March this year, which will see Stantec combining its staff from its two existing Manchester offices at Oxford Street and Bridge Street.

Other occupiers in the 140,000 sq ft office building include law firm Brabners and professional services firm EY.

Cath Schefer, global chief operating officer at Stantec, said: “We know the next generation of engineers and designers prioritise wellbeing and inclusivity, while having a dynamic, flexible workplace. Our new Manchester office will be a lively and aspirational hub right in the city centre.”

OBI and Savills are acting as leasing agents for 100 Barbirolli Square. JLL advised Stantec on the deal.

Andrew Cowell of OBI and Richard Lowe of Savills said: “Demand for workspace at 100 Barbirolli Square remains buoyant… we are actively engaged in detailed discussions with a number of new occupiers, and we anticipate completing the lease-up of 100 Barbirolli Square by the end of the year.”
