Hybrid working is “here to stay” according to new research which suggests that more than half of employees worked from home for at least part of the week last year.
A retail outlook report published by MRI Software found that hybrid working “continued to become firmly established as a way of life” in 2023.
It found that an average of 60% of people regularly worked at home for at least part of the week since February last year, peaking at 65% in August.
Monday has become a more popular day to come into the office, with those saying they travelled in rising from 44% to 60%. But Friday remains the least popular, with 47% making the commute.
The findings run counter to the will of most businesses, with a recent KPMG CEO Outlook survey saying that 64% of leaders globally, and 63% of those in the UK, predicted a full return to in-office working by 2026.
