Morrisons HQ abandons four-day week

Morrisons has ditched its four-day working week for head office employees after its staff complained about having to work at weekends.

The supermarket reduced weekly hours for workers at its office in Bradford, West Yorkshire, from 40 to 37.5 in 2021, working nine instead of eight hours a day over four days, plus a six-hour day one Saturday a month.

However, the grocer has scrapped those changes after working 13 Saturdays a year proved unpopular with employees, despite the trade-off for a four day week.

It will now move to a four-and-a-half-day working week, not including Saturdays.
