Newmark appoints UK and Europe debt and structured finance boss

Newmark has appointed CBRE executive director Matthew Featherstone as head of debt and structured finance for the UK and Europe.

Featherstone (pictured above, left) previously joined CBRE’s Capital Advisors division in 2021 from HSBC, where his roles in the global banking team included managing director and head of real estate.

He has nearly 20 years of finance experience spanning various real estate subsectors, advising on more than $74bn (£59bn) of financing and loan origination transactions.

In his new role, Featherstone will work with Newmark’s UK and EMEA capital markets teams, including head of London office markets Tony Gibbon, president for the UK Michael Lehrman and John Rodgers, head of the UK capital markets and corporate finance teams for Gerald Eve.

Featherstone will be based in London at Newmark’s 84 Grosvenor Street, W1, office.

In addition, Featherstone will work closely with Charlie Foster (pictured above, right), who was recently hired by Newmark affiliate Cantor Fitzgerald Europe to head up the real estate investment banking group.

Prior to joining Cantor Fitzgerald Europe, Foster served as the managing director and head of real estate for Europe at RBC Capital Markets, where he originated and executed M&A, equity capital markets, private capital and debt capital markets transactions.

Lehrman said: “Matthew’s and Charlie’s vast experience across the UK and European markets is integral to further enhancing our global capital markets strategy, fostering cross-collaboration and enriching our service offerings. Their expertise and complementary skill sets create a unique dynamic to drive greater connectivity, deal flow and client value.”
