Former Revo and Soho Housing chief executive Vivienne King is stepping back from a full-time role at The Good Economy to spend more time helping real estate firms reach their “social sustainability potential”.
King joined The Good Economy in May 2022 as head of real estate social impact. She will continue to act as a consultant to the business but said she was keen to help the sector more widely on its social impact actions, so has launched her own business, Impactful Places.
With increasing expectations on all businesses in the sector to deliver and explain the impact they have on the communities they are part of, King plans to draw on her 30-year career in commercial real estate, pioneering sustainability leadership in both the private and public sectors.
In her new role as an independent adviser, she will provide strategic, practical support to real estate industry leaders and the organisations they run in developing and implementing portfolio impact strategies based on both their corporate priorities and the needs of local communities.
The move is a consolidation of various advisory and leadership roles King holds with organisations including Revo and The Shopkeepers’ Campaign.
She said: “Taking the sustainable route to business delivery is critical to protecting value and improving operational resilience and contributes towards a better world. Drawing on my multidisciplinary real estate experience, I look forward to supporting all organisations involved in the built environment to understand and manage the positive impact they can achieve for society.”
